About the fake left and dribble through obstacle (today's training 07 Apr 09)
Hi all,
Weilung's intention during the "fake and dribble past obstacles" part of the training today was to eliminate the turnovers that result from starting a dribble off of a jump stop receiving of a pass.
So please, all of you, remember the steps that he taught you today and please:
APPLY IT DURING THE GAMES!

C Boys vs ACS Intl (23 Mar 2009)
Hi all,
The C Boys had their baptism of fire as they played their first match today vs ACS (International).
It was expected to be an easy matchup for us.
However, this was not to be at the beginning as we could not find our groove in our shooting and set play, as well as our protection of the ball.
We were leading a miserable 3-2 at the end of the first quarter and it spoke very much about how we played.
However, we picked up our defence in the subsequent quarters and thanks in no small part to our opponents' own fumbling of the ball, our boys were able to chalk up the points quickly off our stifling defence of the opposition.
Final score PCS 58 ACS (Int) 27

South Zone B Boys competition (1st round)
Hello all,
The B Boys have exited from the South Zone 1st Round competition.
They have come in a respectable 4th position in the grouping of 6 teams.
(Refer here for more details on the scores and final positions of 1st round matches. You can also check out the videos from the Bartley, Sgn Gdn and AMK Sec games here.)
I am sure they have learnt a lot from this round of matches and will use the wealth of experience gained from playing competitively against other schools either in training or come next round of competition again.
Rest well, B Boys, for now.

South Zone game vs Bartley Sec - supposed to have been an easy game, but was it?
Hello all,
The B Boys played vs Bartley today and it should have been an easy win - however, we were let down by the numerous turnovers (butter fingers!) and bad shot selections. Check out the clips and related notes below:
1st clip - First 3 minutes
2sec to 10sec : Why did Owl end up under basket? Where should he have been? (Clue: Listen to what the coach says)
40sec to 52sec: Nice block by Cheng Rong, which leads to a semi-fast break and a scoring chance - but a wasted pass, even though we kept possession.
1m18sec to 1m26sec: After the missed shot by the big guy from Bartley, the rebound by Ban Heng, and the badly aimed pass that led to one of many avoidable turnovers by us.
1m37sec to 1min44sec: An excellent pass from out of bounds that led to a quick score - well done.
1m53sec to 1m57sec: Check out Bartley's point guard's dribbling skills!
2m04sec: Check out the "ko" score by Bartley!
2m17sec to 2m20sec: Excellent fake by Cheng Rong and great put back off the rebound by Joseph!
2m33sec: How come the Bartley player behind Joseph and Weipeng was left unmarked? And how come HIS missed shot was NOT rebounded? (For the answer, see Joseph's and Weipeng's rooted position - he doesn't have a desire to defend or rebound in this play!)
2nd clip - Next 3 minutes
First 12sec : Check out Joseph's both free throws! Sweeeeeeet!
16 to 25sec: How did Bartley manage to push the ball upcourt into our defensive court, and then how did they get an opportunity to go for the shot attempt?? Check out our sloppy defence :( And listen to what the coach says after this as well.
48sec: Joseph scores at the wide open attempt!
1m06sec to 1m09sec: Good rebound but bad pass -> turnover!
1m24sec to 1m33sec: Good ball movement to set up the play, buuuuut bad turnover! How can Joseph commit such a basic mistake??
1m59sec to 2m10sec: Where are our rebounds?
At 2m30sec: Check out the Bartley player's aggressiveness! He wants the ball more than our own player wants the ball!
2m37 to 2m41sec: Good steal but bad finish!
2m49sec: Once again, where's our D?

Theft cases
Hello all,
There have been instances of theft cases today (20 Jan) during training.
Since I assume that none of you players has done it, then I suggest that you prevent theft of your own personal belongings (cash, handphone, etc) as follows:
(a) Put your bags as close to the training areas as possible.
(b) Ensure that your bag is within view no matter where you are on court.
(c) If you go for a water break, please ensure that at least one person is guarding the bags, and not shooting hoops on court.
(d) Always err on the side of being too careful - even if it is inconvenient.
If any of you have any suggestions, we teachers are always open to ideas.
Even if you report the loss to the teachers or Mr Raymond, the damage would already have been done. This is because the basketball courts are an open area and students are free to come and go as they please.
