Well Done, C BOYS! 2nd in South Zone!

Hi C Boys,

You have certainly done our school proud with your achievement of 2nd position in the South Zone Basketball Championships.

The finals was a game that could have been ours too. You all played brilliantly in the first half, with superb shot selection and shots made, both from long-range and under the basket. You also played reasonably good zone D. However, the 2nd half play left much to be desired. There seemed to be moments of lethargy, with bouts of sloppiness on defence. And you also need to box out and get your rebounds.

You can view RI's perspective of the game here -> http://gryphonsbasketball.blogspot.com/

That game had much to be celebrated and yet there was much to be learnt. Please listen to your coach and work on what needs to be further fine-tuned.

The draw for the Nationals will be on 05 May 2010 (Wed) about 3pm.

===================================================================

Your teachers are behind you all the way for the Nationals 2010, and we are confident that you will bring glory to the school.

Meantime, all the best for the examinations and remember to eat well, rest well and play well too!

Your teachers are planning a treat for your wonderful performance and if you have any ideas, please approach them.

All videos and photos from the South Zone games will be uploaded by end of next week.

B Boys 2010: What's next

Hello B Boys,

This post has been long time due, but better late .......

The videos from the 2010 matches will be up hopefully by end of next week.

The photos are already up and you can view them at Picasaweb.com. Link can be found on the top right of the main blog page.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our B boys this year have done us proud and is deserving of praise for the following reasons:

1) Your committment
Led by the core Sec 4 team of Cheng Rong (also Captain), Wei Peng (Vice-cap.), Zhen Hao (Vice-cap), James, Yin Fai, Timothy, Yih Fan and Diming, combined with new comer Zhi Guang and the Sec 3 players - Siang Choong, Edwin, Julian - this team has seen consistent attendance at trainings over the past 2 years.

2) Your improvement - testament to learning attitude and growth
Without a doubt, this team has grown from strength to strength over the years since the days of the female coach. We have seen Cheng Rong become a very formidable shooter. Wei Peng has used his height to advantage on the post and inside play. James has shook off the spooks of the past which used to see him hunch over and bow in the face of game pressure, to use his athletic ability to great effect as seen in the 2010 competition. The improvement of mid-range shooting by Zhen Hao. Of course, there are still some undesirable habits that still remain in your play that may have set in involuntarily and inevitably.

3) You
Like your teachers always share with your coach: getting players that we want to play for the team is a hit-or-miss affair. This was possibly the best ensemble of players that we have in terms of attitude and discipline towards training by far in the last couple of years. Of course, not all of you can claim to have played bball until you stepped foot into Peicai in 2007/2008.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's next:

Study hard!

Especially for the ones who are taking the National Examinations 2010!

Cheng Rong, Wei Peng, Zhen Hao, James, Yih Fan, Timothy, Diming, Yin Fai:
You have crossed the hurdles of basketball competition and now it's time to prepare for one of the biggest hurdle of your adolescent life. As basketball players, you have not only picked up the technical skills of the game over the years, but possibly unknowingly, you have also picked up the other 'soft' skills that you need to succeed in life: Perseverance, discipline, dilligence, never-say-die, pursuit of excellence, focus, concentration, questioning, desire to improve...

CIP: Please feedback to your teacher I/Cs if you have any suggestion as to what CIP activities you would like to perform.

Ok, that's it for now.

Sec 3s: You are expected to still turn for training now. You will be training on the same days as the Sec 1s.
